Floral Installation Proposal
Heidi Klein | Chelsea in Bloom 2026
Installation Date: 16th & 17th of May, 2026
Prepared by: Ires Salmon & Michael Martin | Blossom Bar
Concept: Celestial Reef
Celestial Reef explores an imagined environment at the intersection of ocean and outer space, an alien coral ecosystem reinterpreted through a refined, fashion-forward lens.
Drawing from the organic structures of marine reefs, botanical materials are transformed into sculptural formations that feel both familiar and slightly surreal, as though they have grown naturally across the storefront.
The concept merges:
The fluid beauty of underwater coral formations
With the atmosphere and movement of a celestial landscape
The result is an installation that feels immersive, elevated, and visually distinctive, designed to stand out during Chelsea in Bloom while remaining aligned with the Heidi Klein aesthetic.
Concept Alignment
This installation directly reflects the Heidi Klein brand identity.
With a foundation in swimwear, travel, and coastal lifestyle, references to coral reefs and ocean environments feel natural and relevant. The celestial interpretation elevates the design beyond a literal beach theme, creating something more editorial, contemporary, and memorable.
The final result balances:
Coastal inspiration
A sense of escape and discovery
A refined, luxury presentation
Design Overview
The installation will span the upper façade above the entrance, forming an asymmetrical, reef-like composition.
Rather than a traditional arch, the design will feel organic and slightly unexpected, as though it has formed naturally rather than been arranged.
The installation is designed to capture attention from a distance while offering layered detail up close, creating a highly photogenic moment that encourages engagement, foot traffic, and social sharing throughout Chelsea in Bloom.
Design Direction Options
Two stylistic interpretations are proposed, both rooted in the Celestial Reef concept.
Option A – (Soft, Atmospheric)
A lighter, more ethereal interpretation inspired by coral formations drifting through a celestial environment.
Key characteristics:
Flowing, wind-swept movement using dyed pampas and soft textures
Layered, cloud-like coral clusters with gentle tonal transitions
A more fluid silhouette with softened edges
Intentional negative space for lightness and elegance
Overall feel:
Airy, luminous, and refined. This option leans into softness and atmosphere, creating a calm, dreamlike presence that aligns closely with the Heidi Klein brand aesthetic.
Option B – (Sculptural, Conceptual)
A bolder, more directional interpretation that emphasizes structure and an “out of this world” perspective.
Key characteristics:
Irregular, branching skeletal structures with stronger movement
Distinct coral-like clusters with higher contrast in texture
More pronounced asymmetry and unexpected protrusions
Air plants and sculptural elements positioned to feel slightly surreal
Overall feel:
Textural, sculptural, and editorial. This option is more conceptual and designed to stand out, creating a memorable and visually striking installation.
OPTION A
OPTION B
*Arrangements can be located inside or outside depending on preference.
